Christina Hanley is an artist and art teacher at the Lee H. Kellogg School in Falls Village. Her oil paintings have been exhibited in Connecticut and Vermont. She also runs a fine arts summer camp for kids in her big barn in Norfolk, Connecticut. She has had a solo show at the Norfolk Public Library in Connecticut and at Broderick Gallery in Burlington, Vermont.

This chair was created by a small team from Kellogg School, whom Chris invited to help her with this homage to the great HATSHEPSUT – the 5th Pharaoh of the eighteenth dynasty of Ancient Egypt. HATSHEPSUT is regarded as one of the most successful pharaohs, reigning longer than any other woman of an indigenous Egyptian dynasty. The design on the chair’s seat is from the actual cartouche found in HATSHEPSUT’s tomb. A cartouche is an oblong frame enclosing the ruler’s name.
